On 10 June, representatives of the IWT's main departments were pleased to welcome a visitor from the Bremen Parliament: SPD member of parliament and spokesperson for science, research and animal welfare, Ms Janina Brünjes, took up the invitation to visit the Leibniz IWT and its current research practice directly on site.
In mid-December 2020, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Rainer Fechte-Heinen and Dr.-Ing. Rainer Tinscher had discussed and explained the topic of the hydrogen economy with Ms Brünjes at the digital event "Leibniz in der Bürgerschaft". Finally, Prof. Fechte- Heinen and Dr. Rainer Tinscher invited her to visit the Institute. Ms Brünjes gladly accepted this invitation now - in a more relaxed phase of the pandemic. Together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Udo Fritsching and Dr.-Ing. Daniel Meyer, the SPD member of parliament was guided through the halls and laboratories of the IWT and was extremely impressed by the diversity of research at the Institute as well as the available equipment.
She was presented with various investigation possibilities and research approaches in a vivid manner. Of course, the topic of electromobility/green hydrogen and the choice of materials required for this was of particular interest to the spokesperson for science and research.
At the end of the visit, Ms. Brünjes thanked the Institute for the impressive and informative visit, which had given her a very good insight into materials-oriented technologies and processes. Leibniz-IWT was pleased with the good exchange and invited Ms Brünjes to repeat her visit on occasion.
