Milestone for Suman Pokhrel from the Process Engineering program area: at the beginning of March, he was appointed professor in the Production Engineering - Mechanical and Process Engineering department at the University of Bremen.
Suman Pokhrel has been researching and teaching with us in Bremen since 2008. His research focuses on the development of nanostructured materials using flame spray pyrolysis (FSP) with a special focus on oxides and sulphides for a wide range of applications, including catalysis, sensor technology, battery technology and biomedicine. His deep understanding of precursor chemistry and the specific adaptation of nanoparticle properties to the respective applications have enabled cutting-edge research in nanotechnology worldwide.
Suman Pokhrel has been honoured several times for his outstanding scientific contributions, including the George Forster Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2006) and the JSPS Award (2008). In 2016, he completed his habilitation at the University of Bremen. His extensive research knowledge on nanoparticles is always incorporated into his numerous courses and guarantees highly topical insights for students.
Jana Schneider, Process Engineering Assistant, presented Suman Pokhrel with flowers on the day of his appointment and congratulated him on behalf of the entire Leibniz-IWT.
