This year, the Association for the Processing of Building Materials and Recycling (Verein Aufbereitung von Baustoffen und Wiederverwertung e. V.) has awarded Mr. Julian Rojem first place in the Young Talent Award for Building Material Recycling, which is endowed with € 1,000.

Julian Rojem studied civil engineering at the TU Braunschweig. He wrote his master's thesis at the Institute for Building Materials, Solid Construction and Fire Protection in Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lowke's Department of Building Materials. The master's thesis with the topic "Influence of the hydrothermal curing time on the properties of light-weight cellular brick from coarse cellular concrete recyclates" provided by the MPA Bremen was worked on at the MPA Bremen from October 2018 to February 2019 and provided interesting supplementary findings on the IGF project "Light-weight cellular brick from coarse cellular concrete recyclates" funded by the AiF. The scientific staff Frank Hlawatsch and Maike Peters took over the supervision.

The prize was presented by Professor Müller and Mr. Schnell, both on the board of directors of ABW e.V., at the symposium Recycling R'19 on 25 and 26 September 2019 at the Bauhaus University Weimar.
