The SPP2122 "Materials for Additive Manufacturing" (MatFrame) ended in mid-May with an international conference. The "New Frontiers in Material Design for Laser Additive Manufacturing" took place in Hanover from May 12 to 15, 2025.
It was not only the occasion to come together for a final colloquium and present results, but also to look back together on many years of intensive collaboration. Dr.-Ing. Nils Ellendt and Dr.-Ing. Anastasiya Tönjes as project leaders of the project "Contamination tolerant hypo- and hypereutectic Al-Si-alloys for additive manufacturing", Prof. Dr. Lutz Mädler as keynote speaker and PhD student Layla Shams Tisha were also present.
The conference gave all participants a comprehensive insight into innovative developments and challenges in laser additive manufacturing. The intensive exchange on new powder materials and their possible applications was particularly noteworthy. And a final highlight was the fact that an IWT poster won 3rd place in the Best Poster Award.
