Special Award Nomination for "Local Heroes" 2023

The "Bremen Resource Efficiency Table for the Construction Industry", which was established among others by the initiative of the MPA Bremen, has recently been nominated for the special award "Local Heroes" 2023, a competition of the German Sustainability Award (DNP).
Together with the Sparkassen and DekaBank, the DNP honours companies and Initiatives that take on local, regional and interdisciplinary responsibility and want to sustainably improve the lives of people in their region. The Hamburg Logistics Initiative, the Gütersloh Tafel, the Eekholt Wildlife Park near Neumünster and many more are also among the 30 nominated projects and companies.
The Bremen ResourceEfficiency Table is an initiative of the Forschungsvereinigung Recycling und Wertstoffverwertung im Bauwesen e.V., in cooperation with the MPA, the Bundesverband bauteilnetz Deutschland e.V. Bremen and the Department of Building Materials Technology and Energy Consensus at Bremen University of Applied Sciences (HSB). The core objective of the Bremen Resource Efficiency Table is to increase sustainability in the building industry. The kick-off event of the Bremen ResourceEfficiency Table already took place in April 2022. Concrete topics, ideas and goals of the working group are in particular the economic and at the same time socially acceptable use of resources in the construction industry, but also the development and expansion of regional economic cycles in order to be able to comply with the sustainability goals of the region. The initiative also aims at networking different companies and contact persons.
The finalists for the special award will be announced in October 2022, and the award ceremony will take place on 2 December in Düsseldorf. High representatives of the German government, including Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Bundestag President Bärbel Bas and Bundesrat President Peter Tschentscher, are expected to attend the award ceremony of the German Sustainability Award.
