The Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK) has appointed Prof. Fechte-Heinen to the Board of Trustees of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM). The BAM is a scientific and technical federal authority with a focus on safety in technology and chemistry and is part of the portfolio of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK). The 18-member board of trustees, which advises BAM on technical as well as overarching strategic issues, was filled by the BMWK a few days ago with two new members: Firstly, Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande, President of the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg, and secondly, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Leibniz-IWT and Director of MPA Bremen, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Fechte Heinen. "I am delighted that BAM's Board of Trustees is receiving such excellent reinforcement," said Prof. Dr. Ulrich Panne, President of BAM, in the official announcement.
Renowned peoples from research and industry who have many years of experience in business, science or administration and who are familiar with the field of safety in technology and chemistry will be appointed to the Board of Trustees. BAM is advised in its strategic orientation by the members of the board in all fundamental matters, in particular with regard to the long-term orientation of its activities. In the future, Prof. Fechte-Heinen will contribute his expertise in materials simulation, design and testing of structural materials as well as the development of innovative functional materials.
At the same time, he was also appointed to the scientific advisory board for the "Materials" topic area, where he was elected chairman. Together with his colleagues on the committee, he will be available in the future for an in-depth exchange in this area of BAM.
