Prof. Carsten Heinzel appointed to DFG Review Board

Major award for Professor Dr.-Ing. Carsten Heinzel: the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) appoints him as a new member for the subject 401-01 "Spanende und abtragende Fertigungstechnik" in the review board 401 "Produktionstechnik".
In his new honorary position as DFG subject representative, Prof. Heinzel will review and scientifically evaluate research projects with applications for financial support. One of his main tasks is the continuous review of uniform standards for the evaluation of new proposals and projects. In addition, the task of the specific review boards includes advising the DFG committees on the strategic design and development of new funding programs.
The members of the 49 Review Boards, which were elected for a four-year term of office, were selected by renowned researchers from all over Germany. The DFG is one of the largest research funding institutions in the world.
Prof. Heinzel has been a scientist at Leibniz-IWT and the University of Bremen for more than 25 years. After his habilitation in 2009, he obtained the honorary professorship for the field of manufacturing processes/manufacturing technology at the University of Bremen in 2012 and took over the tasks of the deputy head of the main department of Manufacturing Technologies at Leibniz-IWT as well as the field of manufacturing processes in the department of production technology at the University of Bremen, which he still holds today.
