New STC G Chairman: Great recognition for Prof. Dr.-Ing. Carsten Heinzel
After many years of commitment to the international research community, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Carsten Heinzel, Deputy Head of Department in Manufacturing Technologies, has been elected Chairman of the Scientific-Technical Committee for Abrasive Processes (STC G) by CIRP - The International Academy for Production Engineering. He will hold this responsible position for the next three years.
The CIRP is one of the world's leading research organizations in the field of production engineering. Prof. Heinzel takes over the leadership of STC G from Prof. Hitomi Yamaguchi Greenslet from Florida (USA), having already served four years as Secretary and three years as Vice-Chair of this body. With the appointment of Prof. Heinzel as Chairman of the STC Board, his many years of commitment and expertise in the field of manufacturing technology are being recognized and acknowledged in a special way.
STC G deals with research into material removal processes using abrasive grains such as grinding and abrasive finishing, attention is largely focus on the mechanism of finishing, the integrity of finished surfaces and the economics of abrasive processes. The members of the STC Board are responsible for the organization and preparation of the STC meetings, which usually take place twice a year: in February in Paris (Winter Meeting) and in August at the CIRP General Assembly. In addition, they play an important role in reviewing the CIRP publications.
The Leibniz-IWT congratulates Prof. Heinzel on this great recognition of his achievements.
