Together with the team from the Chair of Medieval History at the University of Bremen, the Leibniz-IWT is working on a special research topic: medieval wax seals - including the first Bremen city seal. 

The Department of Lightweight Materials uses state-of-the-art analysis technology to make the finest layers of these seals visible. This opens up new avenues: from scientific documentation to the faithful reproduction of historical artifacts using 3D printing. 

The first joint meeting of the participating disciplines showed how valuable interdisciplinary collaboration is.
