LFM equipped with new coordinate measuring machine

Since mid-February, the LFM has been equipped with a new coordinate measuring machine from Hexagon. With this high-precision Leitz Reference Xi 7.7.5 model, Leibniz-IWT now has a particularly versatile model at hand for production metrology.
In addition to rigid measuring heads, this device also uses a scanning measuring head in conjunction with a rotary-swivel joint and a sensor changing device. Moreover, a new optical probe (line sensor Nikon LC15Dx) allows to measure finest surface structures. This multitude of different sensors and their combination offers a wide range of applications. With a measuring range of 700 mm on the X- and Y-axis and 500 mm on the Z-axis, the measurement of even larger components is possible with low measurement uncertainty.
The new coordinate measuring machine will find immediate application in current industrial projects of the main departments of manufacturing and materials engineering. In addition, it will be used in cross-departmental projects in the field of new hydrogen technologies, e.g. for measuring bipolar plates.
