At the invitation of VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association), a delegation from Leibniz-IWT visited EMO 2025 in Hannover on September 24, 2025. The world's leading trade fair for production technology, which took place from September 22-26, celebrated its 50th anniversary this year under the motto "Innovate Manufacturing."
The Bremen research group took the opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in machine tool technology, associated tools, and all supporting system components. The fair focused on key future topics such as artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, networked machines, and solutions to address skilled labor shortages.
Particularly relevant for Leibniz-IWT's research activities were the focus themes of automation, digitalization, and sustainability, which address central challenges of modern production technology.
The trade fair visit enabled the institute's scientists to establish important contacts and learn about current developments that are significant for Leibniz-IWT's future research direction.
