On 03.04.2024, the Future Day took place for young schoolgirls nationwide. At the Leibniz-IWT, young girls were offered the opportunity to spend a day in various technical departments of our institute and gain an insight into the various focal points of our work as part of the associated Girls' Day.
The day started at 9 a.m. with an overview lecture on materials science. The participants then went through various stations in metallography, in the laboratory for micro machining, in the workshop, at the powder towers and in our AM laboratory in two smaller groups. During the course of the day, they also worked on their own 3D-printed piece of jewelry, which they were then able to take home with them.
After a joint lunch break and a visit to the final stations, the group reviewed the day with a quiz, allowing them to test their newly acquired knowledge.
