Erfolgreiches Promotionskolloquium von Marcel Hesselmann
During his time in the Lightweight Materials department, he worked on "Liquid in-situ re-alloying of metallic materials during laser powder bed fusion".
He contributed significantly to the development of the Smart-Alloying method. This process enables the local modification of the chemical composition of metallic components during additive manufacturing.
As recently as 2023, Marcel Hesselmann received the Paul-Riebensahm Prize at Steel Innovation for his presentation on this exciting topic.
Marcel Hesselmann was a research associate and later team leader at the Leibniz-IWT and part of the Leibniz Junior Research Group from Anastasiya Tönjes "AURORA - Additive Manufacturing of Iron-based Shape Memory Alloys". In this project, he developed the suspensions that he used for the local modification of the chemical composition.
The Institute congratulates Mr. Hesselmann and wishes him all the best!
