Dr. Kerstin Avila receives appointment at the University of Oldenburg
he has been dealing with turbulence and flow behavior since her studies - now the step to a professorship follows: Dr. rer. nat. Kerstin Avila, research scientist at the University of Bremen and in the main department of process engineering at the Leibniz-IWT, will follow the call of Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg as of March 1.
Having achieved significant research successes at the institute in recent years, the professorship will enable her to research and teach the fundamentals of turbulence and complex systems at the Institute of Physics there. At the same time, she will be able to combine her basic research with the fluid dynamic development of future wind turbines, using the new and worldwide unique wind tunnel of the Center for Wind Energy Research (ForWind). Dr. Avila received her PhD summa cum laude from the University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in 2013. Prior to joining the Leibniz-IWT, she was a visiting guest scientist at the University of Vienna and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Since 2019, she has been leading the DFG project "Dynamik und Instabilitäten pulsierender Suspensions-Strömungen in komplexen Rohrgeometrien", which she applied for, with great success.
The Leibniz-IWT congratulates and wishes Dr. Avila all the best for her future!
