The researchers at the Leibniz-IWT are pleased to announce the approval of a total of seven new transfer projects after intensive work on the proposals and after successful review. These are located in Bremen and will be funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). "This confirms the attractiveness of our idea of Process Signatures also for the very concrete application in industrial problems!", announces the speaker of the SFB and member of the board of directors of the Leibniz-IWT, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Bernhard Karpuschewski.
Together with companies from the fields of mechanical surface treatment, grinding technology, aerospace technology, manufacturing of large-diameter bearings, tool technology as well as heat treatment, further scientific findings on Process Signatures under industrial conditions are to be elaborated and thus further developed. With the help of Process Signatures, manufacturing processes and the tools used in them can be specifically adjusted in an optimal manner so that the manufactured products have the properties that are required, for example, for higher wear resistance or service life. This also contributes to the development of greater sustainability in manufacturing and in the use of highly loaded components.
The scientific parts of the projects, each with a duration of three years, are financed by the German Research Foundation. The companies are contributing relevant shares by involving their own personnel and providing materials to the work. They are taking on a pioneering role, as the aim is to develop new findings, especially for the above-mentioned sectors, and thus make them available to a wider circle of companies. "This is a challenge that we are very happy to take on with our cooperation partners and will tackle with pleasure," confirms Prof. Karpuschewski.
