Exchange students from France at the Leibniz-IWT
As part of the Erasmus study program, students from the Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France, were once again guests at Leibniz-IWT and the University of Bremen in the summer semester of 2023. The five master's students from the "Advanced Metallurgy" program (materials science with a focus on metallic materials) took part in various materials engineering projects at the institute and were able to attend accompanying lectures.
The foreign exchange with the Université de Lorraine has taken place annually since 2006 and gives international students at the IWT the opportunity to experience university teaching with their own research and thus parallel practical application. In addition, an extensive social program of excursions is offered during the stay. Highlights of this year's visit included a tour of the DESY synchrotron in Hamburg and an invitation to the international research site Helmholtz Zentrum Hereon. There, the tour of the so-called beamlines was a special experience for the students.
Finally, on July 11, the presentations of the master students took place at Leibniz-IWT, where the research topics of the stay were presented to the responsible professors and invited guests. Prof. Vladimir Esin and Prof. Benoit Appolaire from the Institut Jean l'Amour also came to Bremen from Nancy on this day to give an impression of the students' review and the results of the projects of this year's exchange program.
Everyone looked back with satisfaction on the past months and praised the successful exchange and the good cooperation.
