At the Virtual Lab Day on September 12, 2023 from 3:30-6:00 p.m., upper secondary school students will have the opportunity to take part in a virtual excursion through leading research institutes in the field of materials research. The event will provide practical insights into laboratories, research areas and the applications of innovative materials. As part of the event, participants will also have the opportunity to ask their questions about materials research, possible training paths and career prospects in materials technology in small groups and in direct exchange with scientists.

The spectrum of topics is broad and ranges from battery development for electromobility and resource-saving catalysts to the use of carbon fiber materials in aerospace, automotive engineering and sports.

For Leibniz-IWT, our colleague Michaela Sommer will report from the field of heat treatment and materials technology.
