n Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., Leibniz-IWT will be represented at Science goes Public. At the Schnoor-Destille im Concordenhaus, Wei Wang from the High Precision Technology department will present current research on intraocular lenses.
Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are artificial lenses implanted in the eye to replace the natural lens – not only to treat cataracts but also to correct high degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and the need for reading glasses due to age. This medical innovation is one of the most significant in the field of ophthalmology. Considerable progress has been achieved in materials research, including minimally invasive procedures, shorter recovery times, and fewer complications. Wei Wang will discuss what these high-performance lenses can do in the future.
Admission is free.
Venue: Schnoor-Destille im Concordenhaus, Bremen
