Case hardening, i.e. the combination of carburising, hardening and tempering, is the process of choice when the highest strength and wear resistance on the surface with a ductile core are desired.
In order to use case hardening sensibly and to be able to compare and evaluate different process variants, basic knowledge of materials and process engineering is required. This will be taught in the seminar with the focus on gas and low-pressure carburising. With the help of suitable sensors and the use of analytical devices in connection with the simulation of the carburising process, specifications such as case hardening depth, surface hardness and hardness progression can be achieved with a high degree of target reliability. This point is dealt with in particular in the practical part of the seminar. The aim of the seminar is to convey the basic interrelationships in the performance of case hardening.

Special attention will be paid to the practical implementation and the possibilities of process control as well as checking the treatment results in order to familiarise the participants with this in direct contact. In the practical part, the different carburising processes (gas, low pressure, salt bath and powder) will also be discussed. The involvement of the speakers and the experienced hardening manager in the practical parts will enable an intensive exchange of experience.
