Increasing demands on energy efficiency and the reduction of emissions lead to constant power compression and higher stress on components in vehicle and machine construction. Bainitisation has gained enormous importance as an alternative to conventional heat treatment in recent years and is being used for more and more high-strength components. In particular, it offers technological advantages such as high toughness combined with high hardness, low distortion and a favourable component residual stress state, which are far from being achieved by conventional martensitic hardening. Innovations in process control and process monitoring have also made bainitising more economical. This opens up new applications and possibilities.
In order to fully exploit the potential of this hardening process, more in-depth knowledge of the mechanisms and material science processes involved is necessary.
The aim of the seminar is to impart the basic knowledge of materials technology and to demonstrate the process technology, quality assurance and application by means of component examples. With the help of practical lectures, the participants will get to know the process sequence as well as the quality assurance possibilities in practice.
