Advancement of women

Equal opportunities are regarded as an original management task at Leibniz-IWT. Equality between women and men is to be integrated into all management and decision-making processes as a quality criterion for good management and is to be regarded as a permanent cross-sectional task. The necessary competences of the managers are built up and extended within the framework of suitable personnel development measures.

Leibniz-IWT actively pursues the equality of women and men and therefore commits itself to apply the Bremen State Equality Oppurtunities Act (LGG). The Women's Representative, elected in accordance with the LGG, advises and supports the Directorate in the enforcement of the LGG and the implementation of the Leibniz Equality Standards, to which Leibniz-IWT committed itself when it became a member of the Leibniz Association at the beginning of 2018.

In the fields where women are underrepresented, Leibniz-IWT aims to increase the proportion of women within the workforce. A transparent advertisement and application procedure with the participation of the women's representative from the job advertisement to the hiring is a central component for this.

The objectives and measures for equal opportunities and professional advancement of women at Leibniz-IWT are laid down in the Agreement on targets for equal opportunities of Leibniz-IWT. The targets and the measures for the advancement of women are agreed upon every four years between the directorate and the women's representative and their implementation and effectiveness is regularly reviewed by a committee consisting of the directorate, the personnel department and the women's representative. Confirmation of the existence of a Gender Equality Plan can be found here.

Leibniz-IWT also promotes the

compatibility of career and family

through flexible working time models and part-time employment and has been "audit berufundfamilie" certified for this since 2020.
