The microstructural analysis consists of: sampling, sample preparation,
investigation and evaluation using analytical methods of materials science incl. photo-optical documentation.
There are:
- Preparation laboratory (cutting, cleaning, grinding, polishing, microstructure development, ion thinning, sputtern etc.)
- Optical microscopes (bright and dark field, polarization, phase and
interference contrast) for quantitative evaluation - Digital optical analysis for quantitative evaluation of microstructures
- Scanning electron microscope (SEM) with qualitative and semiquantitative
element analysis (EDX = energy dispersive X-ray) - Field emission scanning electron microscope (analytical microscopy of building materials)
- Transmission electron microscope (TEM) for investigation of submicrostructures
- Hardness measurement devices (micro and ultra-micro hardness testing)
- roughness and profile measurement device
