System-oriented analysis for the improvement of manufacturing processes of lightweight products

Products are manufactured under consideration of quality, costs and time. Basically, the economic result depends on the quality of the processes, which are applied during the production. Possibilities for process improvement are often not yet sufficiently exhausted. Potentials lie particularly in the increase of the effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing processes. Partially, these possibilities of improvement are recognised. However, due to missing personnel capacities purposeful analyses and concrete actions are often deferred.

In order to close this gap and to be able to derive improvement measures in an efficient way, the proven basic approach of a system-oriented process analysis presents itself. The highest premise is a trusting bilateral co-operation with our customers. A joint resolution as well as a continuous reporting is self-evident.

On the basis of questioning and result expectation, a concrete project schedule is developed for the co-ordination and assistance of the work:

  • Definition of the general conditions and systematic limitation of the investigation extent

  • Suburb measurements in a random sampling way for product process characterisation (if necessary supplementing material-technical analysis of manufactured parts or samples in our laboratories)

  • Identification of significant process parameters

  • Determination of the optimized process window by DOE (design of experiments) in order to minimize the investigation expense

  • Carrying out of the investigation programme and final verification of the results

  • Derivative of concrete action recommendations for the operational integration

For product-process-characterisation the following analysis methods are available:

  • Tactile and optical geometry measurement techniques
  • Insitu temperature and strain measurement
  • Internal stress measurement
  • Material specific analysis and evaluation

Materials analysis and evaluation of lightweight structures

For the answer of various material specific questions, a broad pallet of analysis possibilities is on-hand

  • Chemical analytics
  • Differential Power Scanning Calorimetry (DPSC)
  • Light and electron microscopy
  • Mechanical testing of materials
  • Life cycle examination
  • Wear resistance investigations
  • Internal stress measurements
  • Distortion investigations
  • Numerical and experimental simulation
